It is reported that the Japanese found, north of the Kwei River, in Anhwei, the bodies of 300 young Chinese girls, members of the Orchid Society, who joined up with Chinese guerillas and are believed to have been killed in a recent battle. The Emperor has conveyed to the Suchow commanders his'gratinca" tion at their brilliant victory over a numerically superior enemy. TOWNS RETAKEN. SAFE RETREAT FROM SUCHOW. The following cablegram was received by the Chinese Consul in Wellington from Hankow yesterday:— “Our troops during the last few days counter-attacked the enemy along the Lung Hai Railway, and recaptured Yifeng, east of Lanfeng, and Peichai, 25 miles east of Kaifeng, thus frustrating the enemy’s plan to sever the Lung Hai Railway. Trains can now proceed to Tangshan. Our troops, which evacuated Suchow, have all reached their destinations safely, and have linked up with the main body. “During the last few days, our mobile units fiercely attacked Paoting, and yesterday it was reported they recaptured Nankwan.
