WOMEN’S INSTITUTES

MEETING AT ALFREDTON.

The monthly meeting of the Alfredton Women’s Institute was held last Friday. Mrs Hull presided over a fair attendance of members. Mrs Cleeland and Mrs Seymour reported on the council meeting which was held at Carterton last month. Mrs Hull and Mrs Payne demonstrated wool daisy crochet work. Competitions resulted as follows: — Best bloom, Mrs Didsbury 1; Mrs Low 2, Mrs Parsonson 3. Pikelets, Mrs Dickens 1; Miss S. Napier 2; Mrs R. Low 3. Baby’s knitted vest: Mrs Dickens 1; Mrs Hutchins 2; Mrs Didsbury The hostesses for the afternoon were Mesdames Clarkson, Mrs Burch and Miss R. Godinagh. GATHERING AT TINUI. The monthly meeting of the Tinui Women’s Institute was held recently when Mrs Atkinson presided over a good attendance of members. 'A very interesting report on the Bush-Wairarapa council meeting was given by Mrs J. Bennet. The competitions for the month resulted as follows: —Best bloom, Mrs Campbell 1; Mrs Dobbs 2; Mrs S. Schofield 3. Best knitted child’s vest: Miss D. Groves 1, Mrs Johnston 2; Miss Townsend 3. Sponge: Miss D. Groves. The hostesses for the meeting were Mesdames H. Groves and Mackay and Miss S. Alack.
