GOLF SENSATION
WARD DEFEATED BY IRISH PLAYER.
(Recd This Day, 12.25 p.m.) LONDON, May 24.
In the second round of the amateur golf championship Hattersley’s opponent (who he defeated 5 and 4) was J. Morrison, the British Walker Cup player.
The biggest sensation of the second round was when Briscoe, an elderly Irishman, defeated the American Walker Cup player Ward at the 20th hole.
Two Americans were knocked out by their team-mates —Yates beat Fischer at the 19th hole, and Goodman defeated Billows 4/2.
