NEED FOR SEGREGATION. Speaking at the annual dinner of the Institution of Civil Engineers in London; Mr Leslie Burgin,. British Minister of Transport, said that his department, which was responsible for 4500 miles of trunk roads, intended to bring'that mileage to the highest standards of excellence known to the road engineer and give proper provision for the various classes of user. It might be necessary to segregate traffic ;.They would certainly have separate tracks for the cyclist and some form of obligation on the part of the pedestrian. He hoped that the new Great Britain would be more orderly and! be.built with greater circumspection and 1 foresight than the country they had inherited. He appealed to the ingenuity and. the vision.of the younger engineer to make the land better, healthier, and happier for all concerned in the realm of civil engineering.
