FRENCH RESORTS

ADOPTION OF FIXED-PRICE TERMS.

The desire on the part of the thrifty Frenchman to know exactly what everything is going to cost before he indulges in the outlay has made fixedprice terms for a stay at a holiday resort popular in France. These fixed-price terms are extremely moderate. Thus one can stay at Monte Carlo in a good hotel for five complete days for 214 francs £ (1 8s 8d), and if the stay is prolonged the charge is only 50 francs (6s 8d) a day. Similar terms are offered for a stay at Monaco. At Nice one can stay at a good hotel for 220 francs (£1 9s 6d). and the same terms apply for Juan-les-Pins, Hyeres, Menton, Antibes, and other resorts of a similar kind.

In addition to stays in one resort, the French railways have organised trips lasting several days. Thus one can take a seven-days trip to Corsica, starting from, and returning to, Nice, visiting He Rousse, Piani, Ajaccio, Corte, and Bastia, for an inclusive fare, covering boat, autocars, hotels, and service, of 1016 francs (£6 15s). Seventeen days in Morocco, visiting Tangier, Casablanca, Rabat, Ouezzan, Fez, Meknes, Volubilis, Moulay-Idris, \Kasbah Tadla, Marrakesh, Taroudant. Agadir, Mogador, Safi and return to Casablanca, cost only 3069 francs (£2O 9s).
