OLIVE OIL
AID TO BEAUTY. Olive oil is a beauty aid of many years’ standing, and it is surprising the number of uses to which it can be put. 1 Rough, red hands, swollen knuckles, thin arms, dandruff, chilblains, and many other beauty blemishes will all respond to olive oil treatments. When your hair is very dry, and you desire to give it a gloss without making it greasy, try adding a few drops of olive oil to the last rinsing water when washing your head. This will allow the oil to spread very thinly throughout the hair, and all fear of greasiness can be dispelled. Rough, red hands can be softened and whitened by giving them a warm olive oil bath each night before going to bed. Massage the oil well into the skin, then slip on a pair of loose gloves, and allow the oil to remain on all night. In the morning, after washing the hands, massage with a little cold cream. When your hands are very dirty and grimy from housework, before washing them apply a little olive oil, rub the hands together as if washing them, then wash with soap and water, and you will find that most of the dirt and grime has been removed. And then there are chilblains. Massage the hands and feet every night with a little warm olive oil, and you will find that it will prevent chilblains. When the eyelashes or eyebrows are scraggy, slight applications of the oil every night and morning will soon increase their growth.
