NEW MINISTER’S SURVEY IN GREAT BRITAIN
Progress of the Shadow Scheme DISCUSSION WITH LORD NUFFIELD’ (British Official Wireless.) (Recd This Day, 10.20 a.m.) RUGBY, May 20. The Secretary of State for Air, Sir Kingsley Wood, saw representatives of the shadow aircraft industry and discussed the progress of the scheme of shadow factories for production of aircraft, aero engines and certain accessories. Sil' Kingsley Wood later attended a meeting of the Committee of Supplies recently set up at the Air Ministry, and received reports on progress made in the issue of orders for aircraft and other essential material required for the expansion of the Royal Air Force. During the afternoon he also saw Lord Nuffield with whom he is understood to have discussed the question of rapid production of aircraft, and it is also understood that Lord Nuffield placed his services at the disposal of the Air Ministry.
