With only eight results outstanding in the general election, the state of the parties is as follows: — United Party 108 Nationalists 22 Dominion 8 Labour ....’ 3 Socialist 1 Mr A. P. J. Fourie, Minister of Commerce and Industries, is the only Minister not returned. General Hertzog’s majority over the Nationalist candidate is 526. Mr N. C. Havenga, in a stiff fight to retain his seat, has a majority of 331 over his former Cabinet colleague, Mr Justice Beyers, who was Minister of Mines in General Hertzog’s Cabinet in pre-fusion days. The complete returns in the urban areas were: —United Party 51; Nationalists, 6; Dominion Party, 6; Labour 3; Independent, 1.
