CLEARING SALE. The N.Z. Farmers’ Co-op. Distributing Co., Ltd., held the first clearing sale of dairy stock for the season at Kaiwaiwai, Featherston, on Thursday last on account of Mr F. Malton. There was a good attendance of local buyers and bidding was keen for medium to good sound spring calvers, and prices for these ranged from £5 to £8 15s. The sale was considered to be a very satisfactory one for the time of the year. CARTERTON SALE. SHEEP AND CATTLE SELL WELL. Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., report as follows: —A good yarding of sheep and a small yarding of cattle and pigs came forward at our Carterton sale yesterday and were offered to a fair attendance of buyers. Sheep and cattle sold well up to late rates, cows and heifers close to profit being keenly sought after. Pigs sold well up to late rates with the exception of slips and store pigs, which were slightly easier. The following are some of the realisations: — Sheep.—Fat ewes, 19s, 20s 6d to 24s 2d; fwd ewes, to 17s 6d; fat b.f.’s, to 245; fat wrs, to 24s 9d; fat b.f. lambs, 17s 6d to 18s 8d; M.A. ewes r.w. S.D. ram, to 19s; b.f. lambs, 12s 6d, 14s 7d to 15s 4d; woolly wr lambs, 16s 8d to 17s 2d; s.m. wr lambs, 10s Id to 13s; store ewes, 10s to Ils Bd. Cattle. —Jers. heifers pn drop, £7 10s, £8 5s to £9 15s; Jers. cows on drop, £9 to £10; heifers just calved, £5 5s to £6; fat cows, £4 17s to £5 15s; fat heifers, £4 10s to £5 12s 6d; fwd cows, £3 to £3 15s;' cows and calves, to £4 12s 6d; weaner Jers. heifers, to £2 6s; E Jers. heifers, £3 10s to. £3 13s. Pigs. —Weaners (good), 9s 6d to 10s 6d; medium, 7s to 8s 6d; small, 5s to 6s; slips, 12s to 14s 6d; store pigs, 16s to 18s; light porkers, 25s to 28s 6d; porkers, 32s 6d to 38s 6d; baconers, £2 ss, -£2 12s to £3 12s; choppers, 35s to £2 16s. FEILDING SALE. FAT SHEEP IN DEMAND. (By Telegraph—Press Association). FEILDING, May 20. A particularly heavy yarding of fat sheep came forward at' the Feilding sale today and met with good demand. The proportion of fat lambs was high, but with the average quality good there was no falling off in demand. Wethers also commanded good figures. There was also firm inquiry for store sheep, with late rates exceeded in the case of good ewes, which made up to 40s. Run cattle were not in very heavy supply and neither was the quality particularly high. Some forward lines sold at attractive figures, but for the rest the demand was -quiet. Fat cattle started out quite well, a few heavy cows making improved figures. Some good dairy heifers likewise made improved sales. Quotations are as follows: — Fat sheep: Best heavy lambs, 25s to 26s 2d; second grade, 23s to 24s 7d; average sorts, 21s 6d to 22s 6d; lighter, 18s 9d to 20s; unfinished, from 16s; heavy prime wethers, 26s 9d to 27s 9d; medium, 24s to 265; unfinished, 23s 2d to 23s 9d; prime ewes, 24s 6d; lighter, 19s 6d; fat ewes, best, 22s 7d to 24s 6d; others, 16s to 21s sd. Store sheep: Very good ewe lambs, 28s to 295; 'average grade, 25s 6d; small, 21s 6d; best wether lambs, 16s lOd to 17s lOd; smaller sorts, 13s 2d to 15s 6d; b.f. similar, best, 14s to 15s lid; others, 11s to 14s lOd; good ewes, r.w. S.D. rams, 325; extra good four and six-tooth ewes, r.w. S.D. ram, 40s 2d. Dairy cattle: Springing heifers, select quality, £8 15s to £9 15s; good, £6 15s to £7; others, £5 12s 6d; springing cows, good, £8 15s; others, £■3 to £4 10s.

Pigs: Weaners, 10s to 15s; slips, 12s 6d to 18s; stores, £1 Is 6d to £1 3s.
