MAURICEVILLE

HALL SOCIETY (“Times-Age” Special) The annual meeting the Mauriceville Hall Society was held on Tuesday. The report and balance sheet were read and adopted, the finances being in sound condition. The following were elected to the committee: —Mr Jas McGovern (chairman), H. Myers (treasurer), J. Milner (secretary), Mesdames Freeman, Jenny, Milner, Childs, Messrs A. Wilkin, |K. Leys. | I During the year a piano was pur- / chased by the committee. The following donations were received and were much appreciated:—Rifle Club, £5 14s 4d, Mr J. Kerslake, 10s, Mr A. Cameron mirrors and table tennis clubs, crockery. A committee meeting was held after the annual meeting, and it was decided to carry out some necessary repairs and alterations. A good deal of crockery is missing, and it was decided to replace the same. The ladies of the committee kindly offered to keep a check on it in future—no crockery is to be removed from the building without permission. PERSONAL ■ The Misses P. and M. Nickolaison left on Wednesday on a visit to Invercargill. Miss Clare Childs is spending the term holidays with her mother. WOMEN’S INSTITUTE The Mauriceville Women’s Institute will celebrate its birthday on May 31. To mark the occasion a playette will be performed by members in the Mauriceville East Hall, with a dance •to-follow. '
