QUEEN CARNIVAL SHOP DAY (“Times-Age” Special) The shop day in aid of the Queen Carnival which was held yesterday realised £ll 8s 4d. The stallholders were as follow: —Produce, Mrs Elliot and Mrs Brophy; cakes, Mrs Jeffrey and Mrs Lambiss; sweets, Miss Saba and helpers; flowers, Miss McGarvy; games, Mr Brophy. LEAGUE OF MOTHERS MEET The monthly meeting of the League of Mothers was held in the Parish Hall yesterday afternoon. Mrs Arch Clark was in the chair. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames F. Burt, G. Burt, Boston, Bladen, Blain, Lang, Lowell and McKenna. An address was given by Mrs Patterson of Pahiatua, who spoke on New Zealand and its present day environments. The tea hostesses were Mesdames J. W. Holland, H. Candy, J. McKenzie and R. Simmonds. PARCEL EVENING A, very pleasant time was spent in {he ; Anzac card room last night when a parcel evening was given by the staff of the Post Office and friends to Mr A. W. Hart, whose marriage will take place shortly. Bridge, competitions, dancing and community singing were enjoyed. Mr Davis, postmaster, in the course of a happy speech, called upon Miss Bamfield to open the parcels. Mr Hart replied on behalf of Miss Bamfield and himself. A delicious supper concluded an enjoyable evening. PERSONAL Mr and Miss Card will leave for Christchurch by ferry-steamer tonight. Miss Card intends paying a brief visit to the West Coast.
