WATERSIDERS FINED. ECHO OF PORT CAMPBELL DISPUTE. By Telegraph—Press Association. WELLINGTON, May 19. The charges against 73 waterside workers, who were involved in the Port Campbell dispute, involving a stoppage of work; which occurred on January 25, at Wellington, were heard today before Mr J. H. Luxford, S.M., in the Magistrate's Court. Mr R. Hardie Box’s appeared for defendants,, and Mr J. F. B. Stevenson prosecuted for the New Zealand Waterside Employers’ Association. In the original action only one man was prosecuted, and the proceedings were regarded by the prosecution as being in the nature of a test case to determine the liability of the other men concerned in regard to a breach of the award. J. Dooley, who was the man originally charged, was found to have committed a breach of the award. Of the men charged today, 68 were represented and five had not been served with summons. It was decided to come to an arrangement so that the other five men concerned might have their, charges disposed of at the same time. Pleas of guilty were entered by all defendants. The magistrate found all defendants guilty of a breach of the award and each man was fined £ 1 without costs.
