POLICE BAFFLED
USE OF PLANE SUSPECTED. THEFT OF VALUABLE PICTURES. It is believed that the thieves who stole pictures valued at £lOO,OOO from Chilham Castle, Canterbury, the residence of Sir Edmund and Lady Davis, may have used an aeroplane to escape to the Continent. Scotland Yard regards the case as> one of the greatest mysteries for years. Twenty persons and four dogs in the castle did not hear a sound. Art dealers all over the world have been notified by radio. The puzzling question is “What will the thieves do with the unsaleable art treasures.”
