TARARUA RIFLE CLUB. (“Times-Age” Special.) The Tararua Rifle Club held a competition for a trophy donated by Messrs A. H. Herbert and Co., to mark the close of the season. Rfm. H. C. Rasmussen again proved the winner. The scores were as follows: —
MINIATURE RIFLE CLUB. There was a good attendance at a meeting of the Nireaha Miniature Rifle Club held on Monday. The president reported that the season had been a very successful one. The financial statement showed a very satisfactory position. The election of officers resulted as follows:—Patron, Mr J. P. Sigvertsen; president, Mr W. M. Marson; deputy president, Mr B. J. Lawrence; secretary, Mr L. J. Sigvertsen; range oMcers, Messrs N. C. Petersen and F. L. Sigvertsen; handicapper and selector, Mr R. Lawrence; management, committee, president, deputy president, secretary, Miss M. Sigvertsen and Mr S. R. Blewett; delegates to the Bush Miniature Rifle Association, the president and secretary. It was decided to instal a new class of bulbs for target lighting. WOMEN’S INSTITUTE. The Ronkqkokako Women’s Institute held its weekly table tennis and euchre tournaments last Monday night, there being a good attendance. Mrs O’Neil and Mr R. Farrow won the euchre prizes. The table tennis prizes were won by Miss E. Sigvertsen and Mr P. Sigvertsen. A dance was held later in the evening, the music for which was supplied by N. Cooper. The hostesses for the evening were Mrs and Miss O’Neil. PERSONAL. Mrs Spackman, of Mauriceville, who has been spending a holiday with her brother, Mr A. Hughan, of Rongokokokako, has returned home. Mr C. Mclntosh, of Auckland, is visiting Mr and Mrs W. O’Neil, of Rongokokako. BOROUGH COUNCIL COMMITTEE APPOINTED The Mayor, Mr W. Simpson, presided at a meeting of the Eketahuna Borough Council held last night. Others present were: —Councillors W. Olsen, M. W. Priest, D. Ryan, K. Marenzi, P. S. Page and E. M. Simmers. The Mayor welcomed old and new councillors and expressed regret at the loss of the retiring members, Councillors Tripe and Norton. Mr Simpson was congratulated on his re-election, ex-councillor Tripe referring to the splendid work done by the Mayor during his 13 years’ association with .the council. In view of the work being done, he did not think :my reduction could be made in the rates. The following committees were appointed:— Water, Baths and Fire Brigade: Councillors Olsen, Page and Ryan. Cemetery and Reserves: Councillors Simmers, Marenzi and Priest. Works. Councillors Olsen, Ryan "nd the Mayor. Library: Councillors Page, Simmers and Priest. Finance: the Mayor, Councillors, Olsen and Ryan.
