The winter racing season in Canterbury was inaugurated at Timaru today when the South Canterbury Jockey Club opened its meeting at Washdyke under ideal weather conditions. The attendance is good, and the track is in excellent condition. Results: — LEVELS HURDLES, Um. 1/2 Courtyard, 10.9 (A. Leach) 1 3/3 The Surgeon, 10.11 2 9/9 Haulbowline, 9.0 3 AU started.
