CROQUET
MASTERTON CLUB’S MEETING. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. The annual general meeting of the Masterton Croquet Club took place on Tuesday. There was a very good attendance of members. The president (Mrs Polson), ' who was re-elected, thanked the members for their hearty co-operation, which' had resulted in the season having been a happy and successful one. Reference was made to the continued kind support and interest of Mr and Mrs F. H. Bunderdale which had been forthcoming over many years. Other officers elected were:—Vicepresident, Mesdames Staniforth and Finlayson; captain, Mrs Donnelly; secretary, Mrs Betteridge; delegate, Mrs Polson; to the general committee, Mesdames Jenkin and Scrivener. The report and balance sheet disclosed a flourishing position. Ten new members had joined and their progress was very gratifying. The club’s outstanding successes for the season were the winning of the New Zealand Council’s Challenge Bowl for open play at the Wairarapa tournament held in Featherston, the winning of the A Shield for inter-club play, and the retaining of the Association’s Gold Buttons against all challengers. The thanks of the club were due to the caretaker of the lawns, Messrs Penistone and Scrivener, for their ready help, and to the Press.
