THE BACHELOR’S LOAD

MORE PENALTIES IN ITALY. EXCLUSION FROM OFFICIAL POSITIONS. LONDON, May 17. The Rome correspondent of the “Daily Mail” says that Italian bachelors, who are already subject to special taxation, are to be further penalised under a new decree stating that henceforth no unmarried Italian or widower without children can be appointed mayor, assistant mayor, town councillor or chairman of any official committee. Any already holding such offices must vacate their posts within two months.
