FATALITY ON STEAMER

WATERSIDER KILLED. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, May 17. Falling from a wire rope sling from a height of about 30 feet, a case of machinery struck a waterside worker on board the Aorangi today and caused extensive head injuries. .The man was lowered from the ship to an ambulance in a critical condition and was taken to hospital, where he died a quarter of an hour later. The victim, Nicholas Martin Saunders, aged G 5 years, was a past-presi-dent of the Waterside Workers’ Union. When the accident happened he was directing the unloading of cargo. The case weighed about three-quarters of a ton and struck Mr Saunders on the head.
