PRETTY ANKLES
A really pretty ankle is rarely seen, and often one that would be pretty is marred by badly fitting stockings or shoes that are too tight or too high-heeled. Every woman ought to realise that she should make the most of her good points and work hard to make her bad ones better. If they are so hopeless that they cannot be improved—and fe\£ are—then they must be disguised and the good ones so emphasised that no one will notice the bad ones. A simple exercise for tapering the ankles is to walk about the room on tip-toe for a few minutes every morning. When the ankles are too thick, firm massage with a reducing cream will gradually absorb the superabundant tissues. Tightly bandaging the ankles either with linen or an elastic appliance at bedtime is not advisable, because of the risk of impeding the circulation. In addition to the tip-toe walking the following movements will be found to improve the ankles:—Move the feet up and down 20 times (they must not touch the floor); move them from side to side 20 times; exercise them in a circular movement 20 times. All exercises should be done regularly.
