“Smoking in bed,’’ declared the coroner, at a recent Melbourne inquest, “is a most dangerous practice, and should never be indulged in. It is running a foolish risk.’’ Quite true. Eut plenty of smokers chance it every night of their lives, and run other “foolish risks’’ as well. Take excess of nicotine in tobacco, for example.; it’s as common as eating your dinner. But how many smokers give it a thought? And yet to smoke tobacco loaded with nicotine, and do it habitually, is a very real danger, and may, and often does, result in heart or nerve attacks. Yet the danger is so easily avoided! All you’ve got to do is to smoke “toasted.’’ You cannot beat it for quality; it’s delicious — and it’s safe—because it’s toasted and consequently practically free from nicotine, whether you smoke Cut Plug No. 10 (Bullshead), Cavendish, Navy Cut. No. 3 (Bulldog), Riverhead Gold or Desert Gold. These are the five renowned and only- genuine toasted blends, famous throughout New Zealand for their superb quality. But beware of worthless —and risky—imitations. 705
