The annual ball held under the auspices of the Druids’ Lodge at Carterton last evening, was a decided success, there being a very large attendance. Visitors were present from all parts of the Wairarapa Valley, and all were unanimous as to the enjoyment derived from the function. The hall was tastefully decorated for the occasion with lycopodium, ferns and other greenery, while the supper tables were prettily adorned with autumn blooms. The dancing floor was in splendid order, and the music was provided by Udy’s Orchestra. Proceedings were kept moving merrily by the M’s.C., Brothers -H. Bassett, A. Stretton, A. Kay and H. Murrell, and they are to be congratulated on the success of their efforts. A-feature of the gathering was the elaborate home-made supper, under the control of a competent ladies’ committee, many sittings being accommodated.
The success of the event, was disj tinctly creditable to the lodge, and its social committee, for which the lodge secretary, Mr E. McKenzie, carried out the executive duties in his characteristically able manner. The door takings were very gratifying.
