LABOUR LAWS

DECISIONS BY AMERICAN SUPREME COURT. IMPORTANT VICTORIES WON BY UNIONS. (Recd This Day, 12.20 p.m.) WASHINGTON, May 16. Organised Labour won two important victories when the Supreme Court unanimously upheld the National Labour Relations Board’s power to order for reinstatement of employees who had been dismissed for union activities and confirmed a contention that strikers had the right to picket. The Court denied that when an . employee strikes his contractual relationship with his employer ends and that thus, after the settlement of a strike, reinstatement is not compulsory. The Court, in a picketing case, voided an injunction restraining garment workers from picketing a dress-mak-ing plant.
