CHILD’S PRANK
BERLIN RESIDENTS GREATLY PERTURBED. Pedestrians in a Berlin street were alarmed recently by a steady rain on the pavement of household objects such as boots, shoes, papers, books, toys, saucepans, crockery, and other articles. They were found to be coming from a fourth floor window, and inquiry showed that a three-year-old boy had been left alorre in a locked room by his parents, and was venting his disapproval of the situation by gradually emptying the room of its more portable contents. These, however, were rapidly becoming exhausted, and as it was feared that he might be tempted to follow them, the police were informed, and the ever-ready Berlin Fire Brigade was called out. An escape was speedily brought to the window, and the door of the room was broken in; but the child was nowhere to be seen. Perturbed by the frontal and rear attacks, he had sought refuge in the coal scuttle, from which he was extricated and taken in safe custody to the police station pending the return of his too trustful parents.
