For the first time since being attached to the Wellington (Territorial) Squadron of the Royal New Zealand Air j’orce. nine Blackburn Baffins, a type of aircraft designed for taking off with a heavy load of bombs, flew in formation during the week-end. Normally there arc nine Baffins to a squadron, and the base at Rongotai, with 12 machines, has; three in reserve. The first formation fl j ght with nine aircraft was made on Saturday afternoon, when the squadron Hew over Queen Charlotte and Peloru s Sounds, Nelson and Blenheim. Further formation flights were made yejsterday afternoon.
