FARMERS’ UNION BALL
GATHERING AT PAHIATUA. The annual ball of the Pahiatua Farmers’ Union was held at Pahiatua on Wednesday. The hall presented a gay picture decorated as it was by Mr Eric Mexted with a maze of bunting and greenery reminiscent of the Coronation decorations. Music for the occasion was supplied by Gedson's Aces and at supper time Miss Lotus White and Mr J. Pinhay contributed music for extras. Messrs I. Bremner and Jas. Ammundsen of' the Ballance and Mangatainoka Young Farmers’ Clubs respectively acted as M’s.C., and kept things going merrily while the able secretary of the branch (Mr Walsh) who so capably organised the function was well to the fore seeing that the visitors were well catered for. Mr Frank Anderson (who has just assumed the presidential position on the branch) made a perfect host.
To the ladies of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union too much praise cannot be given for the supper arangements, which were carried out under the supervision of Mrs A. East.
Much interest was evinced in the waltzing competition which was won by Miss Barbara Boyd and Mr James Ammundsen.
