County cricket results are: Gloucester in the first innings made 478 (Hammond 116, Neale 109, Wilson 130), and in the second declared with 7 wickets down for 243. Middlesex in the first innings made 478 (Edrich 183, Compton 163), and in the second innings had lost 7 wickets for 274 (Edrich 71). Middlesex won by three wickets. .
Essex in the first innings made 327 (O’Connor 129). Verity took 4 wickets for 49. In the second strike Essex made 218. Verity took 5 wickets for 75. Yorkshire in the first innings put on 289 (Leyland 114), and in the second lost 6 wickets for 257 (Hutton, not out 83). Yorkshire won by four wickets. Derby in the first innings made 316 (Worthington 88, Thodes 83), and in the second strike declared with 3 wickets down for 161. Lancashire made 171 in the first innings, Copson taking 5 for 54. In the second innings Lancashire made 90, Pope taking 5 wickets for 18. Derby won by 216 runs.
Somerset, in the first strike made 114, Perks taking 6 wickets for 34 and in the second innings 6 wickets for 296, declared, (Gimblett 79, Lee 138). Worcester in the first innings made 150. Andrews took 5 wickets for 38. In the second strike 1’701’063161' made 207, Wellard taking 5 wickets for 65. Somerset won by 53 runs. Warwick in the first innings made 213 and in the second 245. Boyes captured 5 wickets for 55. Hampshire, in the first innings made 232, Mayer taking 5 wickets for 75 and in the second innings made 156, Paine securing 5 wickets for 53. Warwick won by seventy runs.
Oxford, in the first innings made 217, Berry taking G wickets for 81, and in the second innings Oxford made 319 for the loss of 4 wickets, declared, (Dixon 92, Eager 147). Minor Counties compiled 175 in the first innings and 131 in the second. Oxford won by 230 runs.
