ROAD CYCLING
WAIRARAPA CLUB EVENT. The 22-mile race held on Saturday by the Wairarapa Road Cycling Club from Messrs Fly and Young’s corner to the Royal Oak Hotel, Carterton, and back, resulted in a win for R. Copp, who rode off the 2.30 mark. Copp also made fastest time. Thirteen riders started and Copp soon overhauled the three 3.15 men and rapidly caught the limit men. He finished strongly and obtained fastest time honours by 25 seconds from B. Harman and J. McAliece, who rode off the 2-minute mark. Woollett, off Jmin and Dykes and Little off Imin failed to make up any of the handicaps conceded against them. The race resulted: R. Copp (2.30) 1; J. Duckett (3.15) 2; M. Graham (3.15) 3. Fastest time: R Copp (2.30 )1; B. Harman (2) 2; J. McAliece (3) 3. After’ the races members were hospitably entertained at afternoon tea by Mrs S. Copp, Bannister Street.
