CARTERTON

OBITUARY (“Times-Age” Special) The death has occurred in the Greytown Hospital of Ronald McDonald, a very old identity of Carterton, at the ag of 90 years. The late Mr McDonald was a native of Scotland, but had resided in the district for many years. In 1934 he entered Carter’s Home, where he suffered a stroke about twelve months ago. He was taken to the Masterton Hospital, and was later removed to the Buchanan Home at Greytown, where he remained up to the time of his death. PERSONAL The funeral Of the late Mrs R. Morris took place at the Clareville Cemetery on Tuesday. A service was held at the Presbyterian Church. The Rev R. Byers conducted the services at the church and the graveside. The pall bearers were Messrs Alec Morris (son), A. T. Murray, C. Manley, A. Robertson, H. Rathbone, A. Pauling (representing the R.S.A.). The profusion of beautiful floral tributes testified to the esteem in which Mrs Morris was held. r

Dr. Warren H. Young, of Auckland, who was formerly in practice at Carterton and Greytown was a visitor to the Wairarapa this week. Dr. Young, who was accompanied by Mrs Young, returned north yesterday. Mr and Mrs J. L. Ewing, have left for New Plymouth, where they will spend the winter school vacation. Mr and Mrs Arch McPhee, of Clareville, and formerly of Taumata Island, Waihakeke, have left on a holiday visit to New Plymouth. Mr and Mrs Eric Fisher and their small son, of Carterton, are spending the vacation at Wanganui. DRUIDS’ BALL. The Carterton Druids’ Lodge, which holds a ball each year in May, advertises particulars of the function to be held on Monday night at the King’s Theatre, Carterton. The event which has for years had a district reputation promises to even eclipse the successes recorded previously. Udy’s full orchestra has been engaged and the homemade supper donated by members is a feature of the gathering.
