EIRE BUDGET

MINISTER ON SETTLEMENT WITH BRITAIN. ADVANTAGEOUS TRANSACTION. DUBLIN, May 12. No new taxes or reliefs marked the Irish Budget which was introduced in the Dail by the Finance Miniscter (Mr McEntee). A sum of £.600,000 is allotted to defence, making the year’s total £2,272,314. The estimated revenue is £31,505,000 and the estimated expenditure £31,500,990. Interest charges in connection with the British loan are estimated at £425,000 in 1938. Mr McEntee recalled that the capital value of payments to Britain would have been a hundred millions sterling.
