ALLEGED BURGLARY
MASTERTON CASE. URU FOUND NOT GUILTY. Aftei’ a retirement of about half an hour, a jury in the Supreme Court, Wellington, yesterday returned a verdict of not guilty against Joseph Uru, labourer, aged 37, who was charged with breaking and entering the warehouse of Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., Masterton, and stealing shearing implements, a cheque book, and a quantity of liquor, of a total value of £l7 Us 3d. There was an alternative charge of receiving the shearing implements. Mr Justice Reed, in summing up, said that in his opinion it would be unsafe to convict because there was nothing in the evidence to connect accused with the crime.
