GOLF CHALLENGE CUP. (“Times-Age” Special.) The ladies played the first round for Challenge Cup yesterday afternoon on Gum Grove links, the results being as follows: —Miss Williams, 3 pointb, 1; Miss D. Bloxam, 2 points, 2; Miss J. Ruane, 1 point, 3. First year players: Mrs Lovegrove 1, Miss Tocker 2, Mrs Staples 3. MISSIONARY UNION. There was a good attendance at the Presbyterian , Hall on Tuesday night when the Presbyterian Women’s Missionary Union held a successful “bring and buy” evening in aid of the missions. The following musical items were given: Solos, Mrs Houston ' and Miss Joan McKenzie; recitations, Mr H. Graham; Highland dancing, Miss G. Welch, Mr Stalker being the piper; play, “A Quiet Rubber” (Mrs Playle, Misses O. Harvey, L. Hood, N. Corlett); play, “Disputed Ownership” (Misses J. and L. Hood, O. and A. Harvey); duet, ’ Mesdames Anderson and Houston. Supper was served. EUCHRE TOURNAMENT. The Fire Brigade held its euchre tournament on Tuesday evening, when the attendance was good. The winners were: —Ladies, Mrs W. Fuge 1, Miss Nix 2; men, Mrs Flutey 1, Miss Kinsey 2. PERSONAL. Miss Muriel Rolls, Te Kuiti, is spending the holidays with her father, Mr H. Rolls.
