CHANGE TO SATURDAY IN HASTINGS UPPER HUTT AND WAIPUKURAU ALSO There was very keen interest in the half-holiday issue at Hastings, those who favoured the retention of Thursday and those who wanted a change to Saturday being very active. The polling resulted in favour of Saturday by a majority of 301, the voting being: Saturday, 2890; Thursday, 2589. At Upper Hutt Saturday half-holiday was carried by a large majority. The half-holiday poll at Waipukurau resulted: —Saturday, 538; Wednesday, 265. After- many years a change has been made to Saturday. Pahiatua decided to retain Saturday half-holiday closing by a big majority, the voting being Saturday, 487; Wednesday 192.
