CANADA NOT LINKED WITH BRITAIN. ARMAMENT ORDERS SECURED PRIVATELY. MONTREAL. May 9. A charge by Mr M. J. Coldwell, a Commonwealth Federation Member of the House of Commons, that Canada was linked with “The British war machine” dreyv a declaration from the Department of Defence that the manufacture of munitions in Canada was on a preparedness basis only and that there was no intention to establish permanent plants. The United Kingdom orders for machine guns had been privately secured through private firms.
