Mr I. J. Bridger, the newly-appointed director of the Red Cross for New Zealand, has taken up his duties in Wellington. The Hon S. Ata, Deputy-Premier of Tonga, who has been visiting the Dominion, has left Auckland by the Mattia on his return.
Mr J. H. Boyes, a Public Service Commissioner, has returned to Wellington from Auckland. He arrived at Auckland on Sunday after a visit to Rarotonga. Mr and Mrs E. G. Norman, of Cole Street, Masterton, left Wellington today by the Rangitane, on a visit to England. They will be absent from Masterton for about six months. Mr D. J. McGowan, chairman of the Wellington Harbour Board, who underwent a minor operation in a private hospital last week, is making satisfactory progress, and expects to be about in a week.
