Price of Coal.

Following on tho recent conference between the representatives of mineowners and mines, the wholesale price of Waikato coal has been increased by 3s a ton, and West Coast household coal has gone up Is a ton. No alteration has been made in the price of kitchen coal in Masterton, which remains at 3s 7d a bag, but household coal has been advanced from 3s 9d to 4s a bag. The Minister of Mines, the Hon P. C. Webb, said recently that the increase was absolutely justified, as the industry could not be expected to work at a loss, and the miners were getting only what was long overdue.
