ST. JOHN AMBULANCE

MASTERTON NURSING DIVISION. ANNUAL REPORT. The following is the annual report of the Masterton Nursing Division for the year ended December 31, 1937: —During the year 24 classes were held, and Association classes for first aid and home nursing were formed. One hundred and thirty cases were treated for first aid, and 20 cases were treated privately. Four members were on duty each day at the Masterton A. and P. Show, held on February 16 and 17. Members were also present at the laying of the foundation stone of the new Wairarapa College on March 6, at the Anzac service in the Park on April 25, at the Coronation ceremonies on May 12, and at the annual tournament held by the Wairarapa Hockey Association in June members were on duty all day. The annual church parade was held in St. Matthew’s Church on June 27.' The annual re-examination was held on November 20, when all the members passed. Miss Whitehouse, who was acting lady superintendent, was appointed lady divisional superintendent, Mrs H. W. Thompson as lady divisional secretary, Mrs McKenzie as treasurer, Miss Burns as divisional storekeeper, and Miss Clemas as treasurer for the Association. On November 20, Mr Hislop, District Officer for Wellington, assisted by several officers, conducted the annual inspection. On Friday, August 22, the Division held a successful shop day.

The thanks of the Division are extended to Dr N. H. Prior for lectures, to Dr Forsyth for conducting re-examina-tion, to the Borough Council for the free use of the lecture room, to Mr Joy for auditing the accounts, to the Press for inserting reports, to Mrs Paterson for the benefit concert, to Mi’ Dolan, custodian, and to all friends who assisted and sent donations for the shop day to raise funds for equipment.
