WHAKATANE BURGLARY

LARGE SUM STOLEN. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WHAKATANE, May 9. Burglars entered the general store of the Farmers’ Trading Company, Main Street, Whakatane, some time between closing time on Saturday and the resumption of Business this morning and removed bodily a safe containing the week-end takings, estimated at between £l5O and £2OO. The firms’ books are also missing. Entrance was effected by forcing the back door. Apparently nothing else in the shop was taken and there was no sign of a disturbance.
