MOUNT EGMONT

POPULAR WITH CLIMBERS. 'No less than 30 people climbed to the summit of Mt. Egmont from the northern side on a recent Sunday. There were more than 120 cars at North Egmont and visitors were estimated to total 500. Accommodation at the North Egmont Hostel had been fully booked for many weeks and dozens have been turned away. Accommodation at the old house was also very seriously taxed. : Climbers staying at the old included a party of 12 from Wanganui. A party of members of the Taranaki Alpine Club spent Easter at Tahurangi Hut.
