" AUSTRALIAN BREEDERS TALK OF INFERIOR QUALITY IMPORT.' RESTRICTIONS SOUGHT CANBERRA, May 8. Concerned at the “continued importation of sheep from New Zealand, which are considered to be of inferior quality,” the Australian Society of Breeders of British Sheep asks for legislative action to prohibit the importation of sheep from New Zealand not accompanied by authoritative reports and export certificates, also for a duty of £2 a head on all sheep without such certificates. The “Herald” says that at a meeting of the Australian Agricultural Council, in Canberra this week, several States will support the proposal by the Australian Society of Breeders of British Sheep for a drastic regulation of the importation of sheep from New Zealand.
