EXPECTATIONS OF INFLATION. FOLLOWING ON HEAVY OUTLAY BY GOVERNMENTS. (Recd This Day, 11.20 a.m.) LONDON, May 6. Virtually the only interest on the market at the moment is gold shares, which, after sharp rises during the past fortnight, weakened as a result of French speculators taking handsome profits on the stabilisation of the franc. Most city business men consider the outlook for. gold shares excellent, as they believe that inflationary developments, arising from vast expenditures in England and America will be expressed in the orthodox way of writing up the price of gold.
