POPPY DAY
SALES IN WAIRARAPA A RECORD THIS YEAR’S TOTAL £326. MASTERTON FIGURES £207. The honorary secretary of the Wairarapa Returned Soldiers’ Association (Mr A. E. Prentice) desires to acknowledge receipt of the following amounts in connection with the recent Poppy Day appeal, the figures for which are now complete:—
This sum represents the sale of 6,537 poppies and is £35 8s lOd higher than the total for last year, and is the highest ever realised from Poppy Day in the Wairarapa. Record sales were and Featherston, whilst sales in Greytown and Martinborough compare favourably with those of previous years. The association’s thanks are conveyed to all the ladies throughout the district whose voluntary services were responsible for ,such a successful sale.
