DOG TRIALS
MASTERTON COLLIE CLUB EVENTS. SHORT HEAD AND YARD. The Masterton Collie Club’s annual dog trials were continued yesterday, when the short head and yard event was decided. The weather was much better than on the opening day and there was again a large attendance of the public. Results were: — Open short head and yard: C. J. MacDonald’s Ruarata Fay, 1; G. Thomson’s Speed, 2; M. J. Wilton’s Chief, 3; J. F. Wilsher’s Roy, 4; R. Wiffen’s Bet, 5.
Maiden short head and yard: A. Chorley’s Bob, 1; J. F. Wilsher’s Roy, 2; R. Buchanan’s Doon, 3; C. McKay’s Help, 4. The woman’s bracelet for local women nominating local dogs was won by Mrs C. J. MacDonald. A decorated case was won by W. F. McLaren, and Mrs MacDonald won the shepherd’s crook for a weight-guessing competition. The meeting is being continued today.
