FARM INSTRUCTION
PENROSE SCHEME STARTED. WAIRARAPA COLLEGE CLASS. The scheme for the co-ordination of theoretical work carried out ’by the agricultural claqs of the Wairarapa College with practical work at the Wairarapa Training Farm, is now in active operation. The first batch of three boys from the college went into residence at the Training Farm at the beginning of this week. Under the scheme, boys taking the agricultural course at the college are sent in parties of three to the farm, in rotation, for periods of one week throughout the college year. The boys, of course, remain in residence at the Training Farm during that week. The boys are being selected so that at least one boy with some farm experience is included in each week’s quota. While on the farm, the boys take part in all types of practical work under the instruction of the manager or his assistants and are required to furnish the college agricultural instructor each week with a joint report on the work they had done and the work done on the farm generally. The scheme was proposed last year by the agricultural instructor, Mr S. A. La Roche.
