Boddington reports that 20 points of rain fell at Solway during the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. to-day. Indications are for easterly moderate to strong winds. Weather cloudy to overcast, with intermittent rain probable, heavy in places. Conditions mild. Barometer falling. SOLWAY RAINFALL. Mr H. M. Boddington reports that rain was measure’d on 22 days in April. The maximum fall was 133 points on 22 days in April. The maximum fall was 133 points on the 14th, the minimum being 1 point on the 4th. The total for the month was 9.96 inches as compared with 1.32 (1937), 2.52 (1936), 2.28 (1935), 1.63 (1934), 4.31 (1933). The average for 35 years is 3.15 inches. The following records show that April this year was the third wettest of any month during the past 35 years: —In July 1912, 13.00 inches 'of rain fell in 22 days; December, 1924, 12.88 inches (14 days), when over 7 inches was measured on December 19, which caused the Lansdowne dam to burst; October, 1904, 9.34 inches in 18 days, and May, 1907, 9.62 inches were measured on 27 days.
