SAFETY PATROLS
MOVE BY MOTOR-CYCLE CLUBS. FOLLOWING A CONFERENCE WITH MINISTER. By Telegraph.—Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. To give advice to motor-cyclists with the object of increasing road safety, twelve patrols have been appointed by motor-cycling clubs in Christchurch. The patrols will watch for breaches of the regulations by other motor cyclists and point but to them in what way they have infringed the rules or caused danger to other users of the roads. The patrols are purely for the assistance of motor-cyclists and will not seek in any way to bring prosecutions against offenders. The appointment of the patrols followed a conference between the Minister of Transport (the Hon R. Semple) and representatives of three clubs. Delegates from the clubs met last night and set up a Combined Motor Cycle Clubs’ Road Safety Committee. The committee comprises three delegates from each city club and it is probable that the Ashburton Club will also appoint a member.
