WOOL MARKET

POSITION AT BRADFORD. BRADFORD, May 1. Bradford topmakers are taking a more optimistic view of the wool trade outlook, and a few traders are conducting operations in expectation of cheaper wool, but only a little new business is passing. Retailers seem to have overbought, having big stocks to clear, but a healthy sign at the present time is the public demand, which shows no indication of diminishing. SYDNEY SALES. PRICES FULLY FIRM. SYDNEY, May 2. There was good general -competition at the wool sales today. The Continental sections predominated, especially the French. Values were fully firm on the closing rates of last week. Shafty wools displayed a hardening tendency. Greasy merino realised to 19Jd. The offering consisted of 9165 bales, of which 8440 were sold, 414 privately.
