BUTTER AND CHEESE
LONDON MARKET CONDITIONS LONDON. May 1. The butter market remains as its firmest position this season with a good speculative inquiry in anticipation of reduced arrivals of supplies from New Zealand during July and August. The market for cheese, however, has belied hopes of any similar improvement, and holders are becoming dissatisfied. They appear to be inclined to encourage buyers by quoting lower prices, and the market is likely to be dull for some time to come. DAIRY BOARD REPORT. By arrangement - with the Primary Products ' Marketing Department the following information- is supplied by
the New Zealand Dairy Board. The prices quoted being as at April 30: — Butter—New Zealand Salted, 128 s to 1295; New Zealand Unsalted, 129 s to 130 s. Australian 127 s to 128 s. Danish spot, 128 s, 107 s f.o.b. Dutch unsalted 125 s to 1265. Market continued firm. Retail prices unchanged, N.Z. Is 2d to Is 3d. Danish, Is 3d to Is 4d. Cheese —New Zealand white, 68s to 68s 6d; New -Zealand coloured, 68s 6d to 695. Market closing steadier. New Zealand retail price unchanged, 9d.
