MODEL AERO CLUB
FLYING MEETING AT TE ORE ORE. RECORDS BROKEN. The Masterton Model Aero Club held its fortnightly flying meeting yesterday at Te Orc Ore. There was a large gathering of spectators, and though the weather was not altogether suitable for flying some good times were recorded. The spectators were thrilled by the many flights of the 3 gas models. The club is at present building 7 more gas models, which will bring the total to 10. By next summer these models should be in the air.
W. R. Perry broke the senior gas record held by H. L. Cornish, with a flight of Imin. 481 secs„ with a 40secs. motor run. His Curtis Robin climbed steeply from the take-off. and had a very flat glide when the motor cut out.
There were some excellent times recorded in the rubber mode] class. H. Fulton broke his senior fuselage H.L. record with a flight of 3min. 2 3-ssecs„ and A. Carmine broke the junior H.L. open spar record with a flight of 1 min. 16secs. In the senior H.L. glider event. H. 1,. Cornish set a record with an excellent flight of 41 4-ssecs. D. A. Donald established a club record for senior H.L. scale models with a flight of 24secs. The club succeeded in breaking two Southern Districts Model Aeroplane Association records on April 17. H. L. Cornish flew his Lockheed Vega scale model R.O.G. for 33 seconds and B. J. Doyle his twin pusher for 2min. 12 secs. The club will hold another meeting in a fortnight.
