KEEPING ALIVE MEMBERSHIP OF LEAGUE PAYMENT OF ABYSSINIA’S ARREARS. (Recd This Day, 10.40 a.m.) GENEVA, April 29. Haile Selassie has sent a cheque for about £454 in settlement of Abyssinia’s arrears to the League of Nations, in the hope that he may forestall an attempt to challenge Abyssinia’s right of membership. The Secretariat has refrained from registering acceptance of the cheque pending a study of the situation.
