BEAUTIFYING STATIONS

WOMEN’S INSTITUTE PROPOSAL SUGGESTION FOR ARBOR DAY At yesterday's council meeting of the Bush-Wairarapa Federation of Women’s Institutes, a remit was passed urging Institutes to interest themselves and others in beautifying the surrounding of railway stations. It was stated that the department would carry out all the manual labour necessary and all that was required of members was their interest and co-operation. A sugestion was made that the occasion of Arbor Day might be utilised in furtherance of the scheme and that shrubs and plants might be planted in the vicinity of stations on that day. Members agreed to take whatever interest was possible in accordance with the suggestion in the remit.
